Festival held in 2011
The Welsh Waterways Festival, incorporating the Inland Waterways Authority National Trailboat Festival, 2011 was held at Ynysarwed during the Whitsun weekend.
Despite the inclement weather, over 20 trailboats attended and enjoyed trips from Ynysarwed to Neath town centre resulting in many comments from local members of the public at seeing the canal back in use.
Displays of sheep handling by local farmers and vintage tractor displays were supported by demonstrations of model aircraft and live music. There were also many stalls supporting local charities.
Despite persistent rain, we were pleased to welcome many members of the public who enjoyed trips on the canal crossing the new Ynysbwllog Aqueduct over the river Neath.
